Chattservern rimfaxe.net kommer att stängas ned den 13:e juli.

Varför?
Sedan starten med servern hingst.net (nu rimfaxe.net) har jag lagt ned hundratals timmar på att driva och utveckla servern, men då mängden moderering fortsätter att öka så känner jag att jag inte längre har den tid och energi som krävs för att driva den här tjänsten på ett professionellt sätt. Att moderera samt underhålla servern tar för mycket tid, energi och pengar för att det ska vara värt att fortsätta. Jag har därför kommit fram till det tråkiga beslutet att stänga ner servern.
När?
Om tre månader (den 13e juli) kommer jag att radera servern och all dess data. Under dessa tre månader har ni som användare tid på er att flytta till andra hemservrar (https://joinmatrix.org/servers). Det finns ett migrationsverktyg för att underlätta flytten (https://ems.element.io/tools/matrix-migration), dock är det ett experimentellt verktyg och kanske inte fungerar fullt ut.
Betalande användare
Alla användare som hade ett aktivt abonnemang har fått det avslutat och ingen kommer att faktureras igen. De som har betalt nu i april samt de som har betalt för mer än en månad framåt i tiden kommer att få resterande tid återbetald inom 5-10 vardagar.
Dataexport
De som vill ha en kopia av sin användardata innan jag raderar allt kan mejla rimfaxe@rimfaxe.net så fixar jag det. Vänligen notera att uppladdad media samt krypterad data ej kan exporteras av oss. Du kan dock själv exportera chattar (https://element.io/blog/element-1-9-1-export-is-finally-here/).
Sätt upp en egen server
Det finns flera sätt att få en egen Matrix-server. Det lättaste är att hyra en av t.ex. etke.cc som installerar och underhåller allt åt dig. Annars om du har grundläggande serverkunskaper kan du hyfsat enkelt sätta upp en egen server, antingen med matrix-docker-ansible-deploy eller genom att göra det själv.

Why?
Since the start with the server hingst.net (now rimfaxe.net) I have spent hundreds of hours maintaining and developing the server, but as the amount of moderation continues to grow I feel like I no longer have the time nor the energy to continue running this service in a professional way. Moderating and maintaining the server takes too much time, energy and money for it to be worth it to continue. I have therefore come to the unfortunate decision to shut the server down.
When?
In three months (the 13th of July) I will wipe the server and all its data. During these three months you the users have enough time to migrate to a different homeserver (https://joinmatrix.org/servers). There is a migration tool to ease the move (https://ems.element.io/tools/matrix-migration), however this is an experimental tool and may not work fully.
Paying users
All users who had an active subscription have had their subscriptions cancelled and no one will be billed again. Those who have paid this April and those who have paid for more than a month forward in time will have their remaining time refunded within 5-10 working days.
Data export
Those who want a copy of their user data before I delete everything can email rimfaxe@rimfaxe.net and I’ll fix it for you. Please note that media uploads and encrypted data can’t be exported by us. However you can manually export chat data yourself (https://element.io/blog/element-1-9-1-export-is-finally-here/).
Set up your own server
There are multiple ways to get your own Matrix server. The easiest is to rent on from e.g. etke.cc that sets up and maintains everything for you. Otherwise if you have general server knowledge you can set it up somewhat easily with tools like matrix-docker-ansible-deploy or by doing it yourself.
